🇻🇳‍ Street magic I can get behind ✨🥞#vietnam As the sun goes down in the sleepy island of Phu Quoc, the streets of the night market come alive. The overhead lanterns flicker on, street carts roll in, and the shop shutters go up. The street vendors fire up the woks and the pans, prepare the ingredients, and set up mounds of tropical fruits, tamarinds and other treats for display. Before you know it, the whole market is abuzz with people and sizzling with activity. 🇻🇳 #Vietnam
Happy Lunar New year to everyone who's celebrating ✨ "uruchivitta kozhi". In Tamil, this translates to a featherless chicken. We usually use that phrase to refer to someone who just shaved their beard or got a haircut. Not sure how that became a thing, but there you have it, it's a Tamizhism. Anyway, there is a street vendor in the Phu Quoc night market who specializes in what I like to call "uruchivitta kozhi" coconuts. Ermwhat? He painstakingly separates the outer shell from the inner globe of the kernel. He then fashions a hexagonal cup holder out of one half of the outer shell, pops the kernel back into the cup, strikes a straw through it and serves this pièce de résistance to his customers. I have had over a thousand coconuts all around the world but that was probably the most beautiful one I ever had. Not to mention one of the most delicious too. Tell me you have had a more beautiful coconut and I'll change my name. 🤪 Videos in stories Photo
