I have always dreamt of being a pastry chef, being lauded for baking exquisite pastries at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, working in a Parisian kitchen dishing out éclairs, macarons, croissants, salted butter cookies, méringues, etc. Basically being surrounded by copious amounts of luscious chocolate, bread, cookie dough, and butter 24*7.

Of late, I have realized I’m more into the quality testing side of things 😛 Baking is more of a fantasy and I enjoy eating pastries more than making them. Nonetheless with Christmas around the corner, I thought I’d take another stab at baking. Against all odds (choosing a recipe and buying groceries from TWO different shops) I baked my very first successful cookie -> *drumroll* the world’s best butter cookies.

Truth be told, that was the title of the recipe we followed 😀 By we, I mean me and my partner-in-baking Smruthi and sous-cookie-cutters Deep and Shri. When we finished, the cookies did taste very much like the world’s best cookies, so voila 😀

Even though baking is hard work and it makes such a mess, we had a blast and my tummy is aching from laughing way too much and eating one too many of the warm-fresh-perfectly-salted-butter-cookies. So 10/10, going to bake again 😀

One thing I will say though is that I wish there was a way to take care of all the mess in a more efficient way! We do not have a dishwasher in our kitchen yet so all of our baking things have to be washed by hand in a sink filled with soap and warm water.

To be honest, it is about time that we gave our kitchen a bit of an upgrade. The sink and taps are definitely starting to look a bit tired…

Also, the water in our sink does not seem to be draining very quickly at the moment. I did mention this to a friend of mine the other day and she thinks I should get in touch with a plumber to see if they can get to the bottom of the issue.

Apparently, a plumber in Gresham was able to fix the blocked drain in her sink in a matter of minutes so I think I am going to have to do some research to track down a reputable plumber in our area. Needless to say, plumbing is not my forte so this is definitely going to be a job best left to the experts. Wish me luck!

Oh, and Merry Christmas y’all!
